Lady, the New Film from Sian Clifford: An Inside Look and Q&A
In theaters this weekend in select locations, Lady introduces audiences to a vivid, absurdist comedy crafted around a lonely, self-absorbed aristocrat and the director she courts for her artful self-expression. Sian Clifford—perhaps best known as Claire, Fleabag’s sister in the hit series Fleabag, and star of projects like The Ballad of Wallis Island, Quiz, Mother Mary, See How They Run, and Young Woman and the Sea—plays the central figure, Lady Isabella. When she manipulates a struggling director into filming her every move, her pursuit of artistic visibility spirals into a surreal journey where the threat of invisibility becomes a real danger.
Synopsis:
Lady Isabella’s life takes a bizarre turn as she leverages the camera to project her world onto the screen. Yet as she clings to the spotlight, the line between performance and reality blurs, raising the question: if she’s not in the limelight, does she cease to exist?
