Title: A Browser-Based VHS Room Experience: Browse, Pick a Tape, and Watch on a CRT
Danysvideo.app is a solo, in-beta project that recreates a personal VHS collection inside a compact 3D room. Users can explore the shelves, remove a tape, inspect the box, and slide it into a VCR to watch on a CRT screen or switch to full-screen playback. The films are streamed from the Internet Archive; no content is hosted directly on the site. The interface also provides rich metadata and details about each movie.
Notes:
– Desktop-only at the moment, as the experience relies on a mouse and a larger display.
– Guest access to explore the environment is available, but the environment currently represents the creator’s own room.
– If there is interest in personalizing the space with individual tapes, posters, and memorabilia (including items like the golden idol from Indiana Jones), account-based access can be opened.
Update: Due to high demand, Danysvideo is now available to account holders only.
